In 2006, I was fortunate enough to retire from law enforcement after 24 years of service, including 21 years with the Birmingham Police Department.  While enjoying the freedoms of retirement, I decided it was time for a furry companion.  Soon, an adorable Yorkiepoo named Sydney became part of my life.  Shortly thereafter, a rescue kitten named Stohli entered our lives.  

It became apparent to me how much I enjoyed the company of animals. Caring for them brought me immense joy and I decided I needed more!  I made the decision to volunteer at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society and since August, 2008 I have trained for and assisted with everything from animal socialization to cage cleaning.  My experience there has also included assisting in the veterinary clinic and being a part of the Disaster Relief team.  It has been an amazingly rewarding and educational experience.

I arrived at the idea of starting my own home based pet care business while researching ways to supplement my retirement income.  While researching the idea, I realized that no one was offering services of this type in North Jefferson County.  Soon thereafter, At Home Pet Care was born!
